Cambridge, Mass. — September 7, 2006

TAGSYS, the global leader in item-level RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) infrastructure, and OTA Training, the leading comprehensive vendor-neutral RFID industry educator, today announced that they will bring the industry’s leading RFID training courses to the northeastern U.S. technology community. Students have the option to take the Computing Technology Industry Association’s (CompTIA) RFID+™ certification. With more enterprises aggressively considering the deployment of RFID, it is critical the pool of knowledgeable professionals continues to grow. According to a recent survey by CompTIA, seventy-five percent of technology companies said they do not believe there is a sufficient “pool of talent” in RFID technology to hire from.

Created for RFID technicians, implementers, executives and employees from companies considering RFID as well as people looking to explore new job opportunities in the technology sector, these hands-on courses are designed to provide practical knowledge and experience that can be applied to immediately improve RFID deployments. The course will provide students with practical knowledge and will be able to confidently scope and implement RFID projects.

To guarantee effective, engaging and easy to follow training, OTA uses it's trademarked Gold Key Methodology™ which highlights and reinforces "key" concepts in the curriculum, uses only seasoned RFID professionals that have actually implemented the technology before as instructors and uses hands-on locations like the one in Boston.

The next training course, entitled A System’s Approach to RFID Implementation™, will take place on September 26-28, 2006 at TAGSYS’ global HQ in Cambridge. This intensive, three-day session is designed to provide students with the necessary background to implement an RFID system, including knowledge of RF communication, RFID hardware functions, installation, connectivity, networking, automatic data collection technologies, and configuration of interrogators, antennas, printers/encoders, and RFID tags. Participants will also take part in comprehensive, hands-on exercises to gain a deeper knowledge of common tools used in the industry today.

“The combined experience of OTA and Tagsys in RFID technology and implementation is what makes this training so powerful,” said Elie Simon, CEO of TAGSYS. “We are creating the knowledge base necessary to meet the demand for RFID adoption.”

Students interested in the RFID+™ Certification, will be able to stay extra hours each day and participate in an extra day dedicated to exam preparation and testing. The four-day Certification Module, held in parallel with the training, is the only vendor-neutral RFID certification of its kind. It is designed to test the RFID professional’s knowledge and skills in the areas of RFID installation, maintenance, repair, upkeep of hardware and software, and RFID product functionality. A RFID+ Certification Exam will be administered on the final day of the session and participants will receive their results on-site.
